Some birds were finally shipped to the mainland and experimental breeding took place. Initially we all thought it was a recessive dark factor, but it turns out to be dominant. And, if you breed to combine the dominant factor as a double in one bird, they do not live long. There is a fatal flaw in a double dark factor. It may work out eventually, but for now, breeding two reds together is not recommended.
